Should you show your prices on your practice website?

It's a question practitioners go back and forth on. Here are the arguments on each side, and some simple ways to show prices without overthinking it.
The case for showing prices
- It answers the question people are already asking. Cost is one of the first things a new client wants to know.
- It saves time. You'll spend less time on enquiries from people the price doesn't suit.
- It builds trust. Clear pricing can make you look more transparent and established.
- It helps people decide. Someone comparing practitioners has what they need to choose you.
The case against
- Your pricing varies. If consults depend on complexity, a single price may mislead.
- You want a conversation first. Some practitioners prefer to explain their value on a discovery call before talking price.
- You're still working out your pricing. Publishing it before you're settled can feel premature.
Simple ways to show prices
- Full price list: each service with its length and price. Clearest for clients.
- "From" pricing: "Initial consultations from $X". Flexible, and still answers the question.
- Initial consult only: show the first appointment price and explain follow-ups on a call.
- Packages: if you sell programs, show what's included and the total.
Whichever you choose, keep it consistent with your booking system, so the price on your website matches the price at checkout.
Where to put your prices
On your Services page, next to each service, with a booking button nearby. If you have a FAQ page, add a short answer to "How much does a consultation cost?" too. (How to write your About page covers the page next to it.)
Frequently asked questions
Should I include GST in my prices?
That depends on your situation. Check with your accountant or the ATO whether GST applies to your services, and if it does, show prices clearly as including GST.
What if my prices change?
Update your website and your booking system at the same time. Make sure your website is easy to update, or that changes are included in your care plan.
Should I list prices for supplements or herbal medicines?
That depends on how you dispense. Some practitioners list consult prices and discuss remedies in the consult. Check your association's guidance on advertising products.
